About Activity

These are two different waterfalls with different paths, which start in the interior of the village Afareaitu. One of them is on the Putoa Stream (Putoa Waterfall), the other on the Vaioro Stream (Vaioro Waterfall).

A dirt road leads to both waterfalls through green jungle, mud and volcanic rock jumping. The journey takes 30 to 45 minutes and is not challenging, but it is an unforgettable adventure.

How to get to the waterfall on the stream Putoa?

A little after the hospital, turn right, there will be a school on the right side and continue straight along the bumpy road until you reach the last houses (the road ends here). Park your car and prepare a small parking fee. Take the road on the right and you have nowhere to get lost. Only one section is slightly more challenging, where you jump over a stream over volcanic stones, be careful not to slip. Otherwise, continue along the path through the beautiful jungle until a 30-meter-high waterfall emerges in front of you. Don’t forget the golden rule that everything we bring with us must be taken away. And maybe a little more advice, don’t forget the mosquito repellent, good shoes, plenty of water to drink and the adventure can begin.
